💪 Aim is to gain self-awareness of our body through accepting, embracing, loving it and practicing movements that will help us gain ground in everyday activities. * Weight loss is not the goal of effort but often the indirect result of our actions.

We are building strength while practicing functional moves AND we do it in the water.

We AIM to MOVE

In our classes, we work a variety of simple movements to the music. This is a fun cardiovascular training tool. Dance tracks build confidence and coordination.

We incorporate Pilates movements into our structure to build concentration, balance and flexibility while cooling participants down. Throughout our entire class, we focus on moving the body through a range of postures, which introduce ‘core’ movements; and body movements that stem from the CORE impact the efficiency of the entire body.

We use the dynamics of the water to help us rhythmically move our own body to feel good. (Remember our brain loved pleasure and avoids pain – we gravitate towards what feels good. That’s WHY and HOW we work it out in our water classes through our movements and improved mood.)

(🤫 shh!!! we don’t even use the word “EXERCISE,” during our class time, we simply say, “we are working it out in the water” (the ‘it” being “whatever” the “it” may be…)).

STRUCTURE OF GROUP SESSIONS

Group sessions are classes that range from 45 – 55 minutes, focusing on WARMUP, RYTHMIC LIMBERING, CARDIO, CORE/STRETCH, and WARMDOWN (whether this is a DEEP or SHALLOW WATER class structure.)

* CLASSES ARE DESIGNED with ALL AGES & FITNESS LEVELS in mind, working components of flexibility, core strength, balance and coordinated movements.

WARMUP & CARDIO WITH RHYTHMIC MOVEMENT

This is the part of our WORKOUT that gives the body indication to prepare itself for workout. We will do short activities to prepare the body for movement at a lower intensity than during our CARDIO time (example slower pace of walk, jog, jacks, T & A’s, crossovers, cross county skis, etc.) to help warm the body and introduce the types of moves that we will use in our other music tracks during our higher intensity movements.

During WARMUP, we are working all major muscle groups, to mentally and physically prepare for our workout ensuring that our muscles will contract more easily, and so that our joints loosen up; we want to get our body temperature up and increase blood flow to the muscles. The brain engages with the body during this time to get our body ready for aerobic exercise. 

(This is important so that we reduce soreness and lessen risk of injury.) 

As we MOVE FORWARD into our CARDIO portion of the class time, we will use a variety of movements such as but not limited to:

Push/Punch/Pull: Its main purpose is cardiovascular training, but it also improves coordination and upper body strength.

Kick: Its focus is on leg strength, balance and coordination.

Hinging/Squatting/Lunging:

Walking/Jogging/Running/Jump: These movements help build cardiovascular endurance, leg strength, power and speed.

THE WINS OF THE WATER

🌸 Through the consistency of movement over time, our GOAL is to IMPROVE our ENDURANCE & STRENGTH for overall BODY performance.

As we work our CORE/STRENGTH we will additionally be working on our FLEXIBILITY (the ability to move a joint through a full range of MOTION without discomfort or pain.)

🗣️ You will often hear me in class reminding all to PAY ATTENTION on PURPOSE to his/her own body and to KNOW that personal difference between DISCOMFORT and PAIN – if its PAIN — STOP!!

STRETCH AND WARMDOWN

We end our classes with intentional STRETCHES and purposeful WARMDOWN. This is one of my favorite parts of the class. This is the part that we utilize static stretches to continue strengthen and lengthen the muscles. By this part of class, the muscles are more relaxed, and everyone is more flexible by this portion period.

The bonus is that active participation in this part, reduces delayed onset of muscle soreness.

Mind-Body Connect

Because we have to pay attention on purpose we are working our COGNITION faculties in addition to our physical body.

By practicing the moment of NOW, we are in the MINDFUL MOMENT OF THE PRESENT. In the FOCUS of the PRESENT MOMENT, we are additionally gaining the benefit of STRESS MANAGEMENT.

We call this stress management technique I.R.E.E.

INTENTIONAL RELEASE OF EMOTIONAL ENERGY (I.R.E.E)

Emotional energy can get “stuck” in our body if we do not find an outlet for release.

Think about every thought – thoughts runs in tandem with an emotion; every emotion becomes a feeling felt through the body.

If we don’t properly feel the feelings produced from the emotions of the thoughts that our body holds onto, the feelings stay stuck in the body. Our body remembers even what our mind seeks to hold onto in forgetfulness – our class presents the perfect opportunity to release the excess energy from the stress held within.
